HR Innovation & Tech Festival
Thank you #theeventfulgroup for inviting me as a chairperson and speaker at #HRTechFest. I enjoyed presenting and discussing with attendees how start-ups in the disruptive economy, especially in-and-around Southeast Asia, are tackling the challenges of hiring, retaining and developing the best talent whilst having to achieve hyper growth business targets.
With nearly 900 attendees over two days, numerous Australian and global HR/L&D speakers from Lego, Microsoft, Spotify, eBay, Amazon, Bersin Partners, Airbnb, Uber and many more it made the two days very special.
I returned to Singapore with three key takeaways:
There is a lot of valuable HR technology being built out of Australia, which is very exciting to explore. The following caught my eye: intelliHR, Enboarder, VideoMyJob, Weirdley, and Unleashed VR.
A lot of great examples from Australian start-ups and more established MNCs on how they are thinking about building culture – ‘’making the workplace welcoming and an enjoyable environment for employees surrounded by opportunities to learn as well as grow’’. Biggest challenge discussed was about ‘’how not to lose the authenticity of your culture blueprint when rapidly scaling -especially when expanding internationally?’’
Not that I was surprised, as I am always made extremely welcome in Australia, whether for business or holidays, but the networking opportunities and willingness from fellow speakers, delegates and partners to engage and shares their learning was absolutely outstanding.
Special shout-out to Debra, Simon and Ian – thank you for making my trip, although short, so enjoyable.
